Sydney Prices Down 11-12%

Recommended Posts

House prices continue to fall in Sydney. The market seemed to stagnate last year (in a similar fashion to the situation in the UK at present) before prices began to drop away. Interesting to note that prices are falling on an increasing volume of transactions. I see the Australian market as the Canary in the coalmine, the commodities boom has buoyed the economy after the sharp slowdown in the housing market, but that boom is dependent on an unsustainable global debt driven consumer boom.

"There has been a slow but inevitable shift in vendor sentiment over the course of the year with an increasing number of vendors willing to accept lower prices for their property, better that, than having it languish on the market", said Mr John Wakefield, managing director of CPM Research.
