Can anyone recommend a good book or site on reading charts and waves?

Charts: Guinness Book Of Hit Singles

Waves: The Perfect Storm!

Cheers ;)

The definitive TA 'bible' is Technical Analysis of the Financial Markets by Murphy. I wouldn't even start to think about trading off it until you've read this as a base.

As you also mentioned waves, try R N Elliott's Masterworks, the Definitive Collection by Prechter. If you really find this area interesting and are willing to put the time in I can also recommend:

Channels & Cycles: a Tribute to J M Hurst by Millard,

Fibonacci Applications and Strategies for Traders by Fischer, and

When Genius Failed: The Rise and Fall of Long Term Capital Management by Lowenstein (for a lesson in what happens when you get too cocky and nice history lesson in what is about to blow apart our financial markets)
