"retail Price Deflation Is Back With A Vengeance"

Recommended Posts

LONDON (AFX) - Prices continue to fall on the UK's high streets as retailers
continued to discount goods heavily in an attempt to lure buyers into the shops,
a survey from the British Retail Consortium showed.
In its monthly survey, the BRC said its shop price index revealed that
overall prices were 0.67 pct lower in February than a year ago. On a
month-on-month basis, prices were 0.10 pct lower.
"These results reaffirm what we saw last month, that retail price deflation
is back with a vengeance
," said BRC director general Kevin Hawkins, adding that
prices were lower during February than in the sales and discounting of January.

Retail cry our for IR cut yet Halifax report confirms no need to cut IR any time soon. Halifax spin will keep IR high for the time being continuing the squeeze on the production side of the economy. What a mess.
