New car sales fell again last month and are now down nearly 10% for the year so far, figures show

A total of 75,996 new cars were registered in February - 1.4% fewer than in the same month last year, the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders said.
The latest statistics mean the January-February 2006 new car total was 9.7% down on the figure for the first two months of 2005.

Retail is still sinking, new car purchases plummeting--what next? The spectre of unemployment is looming large over the housing bubble!

Only 10%? I've seen about 3 new (06 reg) cars in total on my journey to and from work since the 1st. I would usually see that number on my half hour journey to work on the first day of a new registration.
