bazzzzzzz
I'm not gloomy.... cos i'm not on the side of a himalyan mountain watching my children freeze to death, or in ethiopia watching them starve , or watching them hanging out with pimps and junkies on an east end street corner, and not wondering where my next meal's coming from, and not waking up to another day's torture in some godforsaken prison, and not having to comfort my sister cos she's been gang raped by militia...again, cos i'm not hungry, dying , suffering from any disease mental or physical, cos i'm not in pain cos i don't have demons swilling around my head and cos i can see through the darkness and can see the light cos i'm not having to wake to another day in the trenches, cold and frightened, not having to spend another night lying in another man's guts, or having to feel another man's steel in mine, cos i can stand on a street corner and denounce bliar a homicidal, war mongering cheating murdering b@astard and not get shot cos there's beauty, and sweetness and joy and innocence and light all around cos i'm not unloved and not unwanted cos i don't have to get up tomorrow cos i have choices cos i can fart whenever i like cos i can f*** whoever wants to f*** me cos i can pick my nose and flick my bogies cos i know i can delete this post when i wake up in the morning if it embarasses cos i know if i forget it would have disappeared cos it doesn't really matter i can't remember how to spell embarased night night

Warwickshire Lad
I used to think of myself as a fairly happy-go-lucky sort of person. These days it's rather different.
Elizabeth
To start such a thread you guys dont know the meaning of gloom, desperation, depression, et al their pals. Have you ever sat in the corner of a room rocking and sobbing to yourself in front of someone you loved? Well, have you? Yeah, but it was a long time ago. Haven't got time for that anymore. I've become an outer shell with multiple credit cards. Its so much easier than feeling your life. Edited March 4, 2006 by Elizabeth
Jake
I'm not sure you know. According to Barratts all these people have just bought houses and they look really happy. Not a gloomy face amongst them. Got any good captions for these muppets? This could be a great contest! Chubby bloke in second photo: " she made me do it, honest mate! " Mad eyed guy in next photo: angrily "wot house price crash? nutter. " Family: "We're going to hell in our B'ratt home. Cheers! "

RichM
I'm feeling very gloomy as I've got flu. But generally I am actually quite upbeat. I have a good job I enjoy, a lovely wife, friends and family, and no debt. That's right, no debt, just a 3K on student loans.

Badger
lets see what Keats had to say on melancholy.. No, no, go not to Lethe, neither twist Wolf's-bane, tight-rooted, for its poisonous wine; Nor suffer thy pale forehead to be kiss'd By nightshade, ruby grape of Proserpine; Make not your rosary of yew-berries, Nor let the beetle, nor the death-moth be Your mournful Psyche, nor the downy owl A partner in your sorrow's mysteries; For shade to shade will come too drowsily, And drown the wakeful anguish of the soul. But when the melancholy fit shall fall Sudden from heaven like a weeping cloud, That fosters the droop-headed flowers all, And hides the green hill in an April shroud; Then glut thy sorrow on a morning rose, Or on the rainbow of the salt sand-wave, Or on the wealth of globed peonies; Or if thy mistress some rich anger shows, Emprison her soft hand, and let her rave, And feed deep, deep upon her peerless eyes. She dwells with Beauty - Beauty that must die; And Joy, whose hand is ever at his lips Bidding adieu; and aching Pleasure nigh, Turning to poison while the bee-mouth sips: Ay, in the very temple of Delight Veil'd Melancholy has her sovran shrine, Though seen of none save him whose strenuous tongue Can burst Joy's grape against his palate fine; His soul shall taste the sadness of her might, And be among her cloudy trophies hung. Give her a few weeks before you start her on the HPC forum - she'll need that time to get up to speed. Doesn't this make economics pale into insignificance for you? non-FTBer
Reasons to be cheerful no.3; It's a beautiful bouncing bear! (Actually she's called Daisy) I'll add my congratulations too. I've got a 6 month old boy and he's made me rethink what is important in life. I'd be happier hearing him laugh than sitting in a 20 bed mansion sipping champers. (And this from someone who was 50/50 about even having kids).
