To be honest, the only miracle about our economy is that it hasn't gone tits up before now....

There was IIRC an IMF report last year that described the performance of the UK economy as "surprising". It was trumpted at the time in the media in predictably self congratulatory terms. I read it as Centralbankerspeak for what you said above!
