Response From Mirror Re Cost Of Living Article

Recommended Posts

In response to the mirror article last week complaining about price rises in things like Council Tax, Gas etc etc I wrote:

Matt,

Nice article.

However you didn't mention how this all ties in with the fact that the

government tells us that inflation is only 2%. Or isn't!

Maybe you could do another article on how the government manipulates the

inflation figure in order to manipulate interest rates. So much for an

independent BoE. If you have time it would be interesting to look at the

composition of the CPI index over time and see how the government has

reduced the weighting of the components that are going up such as the ones

you mention. And things like council tax aren't in there at all.

Regards,

Rob

Response:

All the best, Matt

So we shall wait and see!!

Very, very good. Well done.

If they follow this up, it will have a much bigger impact than all the complaints people have sent off to the Beeb etc. You have pointed them to the meat of a very interesting article.
