Goat
I am viewing a house soon with a view to renting it. Looking at the floorspace they are quoting £20 per square foot per annum (this excludes the bathroom). This set me thinking, what is a reasonable rental rate per square foot? How much difference is there between areas. I'm in the home counties BTW

Nijo
Try calculating the number of pound coins you can fit into the floorspace and divide by 1000. That's your weekly rent. In areas other than London you may need to use different coinage. Edited March 1, 2006 by Nijo
Guest Winners and Losers
That's tenants per square foot. (Just teasing.) Class. Does that include bikes?
Goat
Impossible to answer in the abstract. How long is a piece of string? Ok, instead of fair shall we say average? My point was that I think £20 is too much but what are others paying? I only ask to give myself some evidence to negotiate with. NJP
Okay. To start the ball rolling, I'm paying £12 per sqft per annum on a flat on the harbourside in Bristol.
