With B T L Now Out Of Favour Investors Move To Commercial

A PROPERTY portfolio made up entirely of
buy-to-let properties may not seem so appealing now that yields are flattening and capital appreciation has slowed
, but there are alternative ways to make money from the housing market.
Buy-to-let investors face the added complication of maintenance costs.
They are also likely already to be exposed to the residential property market
via the property they live in.
While optimists point to a soft landing for the UK housing market in 2006,
there are still concerns that high levels of consumer debt levels will have a negative impact on the market
.
One way to speculate on this could be to invest in a falling housing market via a spreadbet.

It is now a given that investment that relies on the house market is no longer adviseable. Time to sell-up BTLs and look at alternatives. Problem: aren't most BTLer's already thinking about heading for the exits?
