Hpc Alert : U S Market Begins To Plummet

Recommended Posts

Massachusetts' housing market showed signs of weakness at the end of last year, with single-family house sales during the
fourth quarter down 8 percent
and prices barely budging, according to a report released yesterday by the Massachusetts Association of Realtors.
Every region in Massachusetts reported fourth-quarter declines in single-family house sales, with the
sharpest drop -- 17.6 percent
-- on Cape Cod.

The EAs try to spin this as the market returning to normal but it would seem that a drop of 17.6 in MA's prime real estate location is a CRASH.

Its coming to a town near you......

How about this for HPC:

Builders discounting $150,000.00! How would you like to be the buyer who had to get in quick at full price?

Hi Realistbear

I read the property forecasts in the Seattle Times over the weekend. One economist predicts increases of 40% over two years. Apparently they had a mini-recession here a few years back and the city hasn't caught up with the rest of the west coast boom. Other economists predict a 10% increase. The USA seems to have pockets of extreme house price inflation but I cannot see how Seattle will be immune to the slump. One thing is for certain - interest rates are rising fast here. Imagine if that happened back in the UK.

Unfortunately my girlfriend threw the paper away because I wanted to make a bet with economist that prices won't increase by 40%! I'd be interested to know how many economists follow their own convictions?
