Rightmove For Sale

Recommended Posts

10m visits a month! 5m from people who couldn't believe it the first time.

I wonder how many that really is though - I look every day or two to see the most recent offerings for sale and rent. Maybe about 500-750k distinct visitors? Can't think it's many more...?

Also Estate Agents must be on the site a lot - adding new properties etc.

I'd rather blow my money on escort services than either option. At least I'll have happy memories. :)

don't you mean the estate agents look on the site in order to value a similar property they've just visited, cos they haven't got a clue!!

BLIND LEADING THE BLIND, isn't that how we've got to where we are now.

rather like when lastminute.com floated... ;)

hmmm, when they have some fatcats from the city on the board then their main concern will be revenue stream.

....to the un-educated that means SELL THE BLOODY HOUSE....AT ANY PRICE!!!!,I WON'T TOLERATE IT STANDING ON THE MARKET FOR A YEAR WITH NO INCOME FROM IT.

YOUR JOB IS AT RISK IF YOU DO NOT KEEP UP WITH THE INSTRUCTIONS GIVEN FROM THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS.

or crabs...

Martha Lane Slapper was and is still treated as some kind of business genius for floating a company with minimal turnover relative to flotation price (let alone any profit) to a bunch of gullible sheep, who then lost their shirts. She may be clever at something for doing this but I do not think this makes her a good business person.

Top of the market.

Rightmove For Sale

sounds like they're trying to get off the ladder before it's too late.

What reason could they possibly have to sell now?

Investors aren't impressed.

This is from the CountryWide (CWD) discussion board over at www.iii.co.uk.

So, this DotCom pile of junk is to be floated in March and according to todays announcement the shares will come fom the existing holders. I.e., CWD can offload some or all of their 30% and no doubt hope that the cash and/or paper value will shore up their SP.

I wonder if they'll put that in their prospectus?

Apologies if people already knew this - I didn't, but it certainly explains a lot.

Read in the Daily Express today (pg. 58) in an article on Rightmove's flotation that the four corporate owners of it are:

Halifax, Countrywide Assured, Royal and Sun Alliance, Connells.

Like I said, explains a lot. I didn't trust most of the property market news and figures before and I trust them even less now.

I get the Rightmove email updates for new properties. Well, lots of emails going to different email addresses which filter into different folders for different areas.

Everytime I click "show images", it links to the Rightmove website. Does this count as a 'hit'?

P.s. A lot more houses are coming onto the market compared to most of 2005.

You have to click the properties that interest you, these hits are then fed thought to the estate agents, showing which properties are popular or not.

I'm personally going to buy rightmove shares and hopefully sell them after the flotation, with a higher price.

Peronally feel that they will drop in 2007 July because of the HIPS being introduced.

That would be a good time to buy some of the shares again.

But the email picture link is the exact URL you are directed to upon clicking, how would the Rightmove servers distinguish between internet explorer and MS Outlook Express viewing the page?

Also, as there are move properties advertised, I find I have to search through more pages. Wouldn't this have an impact?

Oh, and welcome GADGER!

Mark these words....

1) Rightmove IPO, shares rise at more bullish optimism - spring 2006

2) Directors sell significant holdings of shares - summer 2006

3) Reports grow of continued House Price decline and possible recession - Autumn 2006

4) Rightmove shares close at below IPO value - Winter 2006

Remember the value of shares in Rightmove may rise or fall - Your home is at risk if you MEW to buy a large holding in this company.

This is the mother and father of all VIs. It gives a common agenda to the majority of high street EA offices throughout the country, they all share an objective until the flotation. Property prices must hold up for the next few months, come what may.

um.. aren't home information packs the mainstay of the rightmove float ? (their proposition is that if they can get on top of issuing home information packs, by selling them on the website with the appropriate advice, then they'll make loadsamoney)

Still think the city boys are confused between CSR (tech stock that makes a real, useful product) and Rightmove (tech stock that is actually a dot com - a service linking two sets of people)

Unfortunately I put my money where my mouth is and shorted countrywide @ 400p (now 500p, stop loss long gone so I'm not a VI!)
