Who Will The Public Blame ?

Recommended Posts

When the crash finally happen who do you think the public will blame.

1) The BOE for increasing interest rates (if they ever do)

2) Gordon Brown for Increasing taxes now that he has no money to spend.

3) The High Street Banks for wanting their money back

4) The estate agents for blatently lying about the state of the housing market.

5) Me and all the other 20-35 year olds for leaving this country, therefore refusing

to fund this madness any longer.

It seems that there seems to be a stand off between Gordon Brown, the BOE and the main high street

banks as no one wants to be responsible for a crash.

Who do you think will crack first ???

I think mikthe20 is spot on - anyone but themselves! What we are seeing now is pure greed, typical British snobbery, the usual "I am alright Jack" mentality, being seen to be better than the Jones and, no doubt, a lot of girly pressure.

I feel sorry most of all for those men, no doubt currently besotted with some woman, who is now going out on a financial limb in order to live the lifestyle. In a few years time many of these such men are going to be bitter and resentful and, I fear, some will end up taking their own lives.

I go for (5). My friends seem increasingly unsettled by my persistence in not buying.

Have you asked why? I think its because they don't want to be in a mess on their own!!

Whomever they can sue the most easiest, so follow the money, the banks will get it in the neck first then lots of 'agents', developers and such like will be persued for giving out misleading investment advice and then the FSA hand will be forced to act, if only to dissuade from their own negligence over mortgage fraud.

Anyone but themselves.

Gordon Brown (and other politicians) are the most visible people to blame. They may try to blame the BoE but the Sheeple neither know, nor care, who Merv and the rest are.

Blaming the world economy (the US and China in particular) will certainly work to some extent.

As Madness once sang: "Pass the blame and don't blame me".

Hopefully Phoney and Prudence will soon know the words to another Madness song.

Yesterday's Men.

Because if we're not buying, they've just about to realise who the 'greatest fools' are in the biggest bubble in the history of the UK.

I imagine a lot of people will be compensated for having been "mis-sold" mortgages.

"Honest gov, I didn't know that lying about my salary was fraud, my mortgage advisor/estate agent/IFA/etc told me it was fine."

The thing is, I don't think the average person who is spending, spending, spending on houses, cars, new kitchens, bathrooms, etc, etc, has any idea or concept of what a financial bubble is, that they are not just in one but have actually helped to create it and that when it goes pop they will not have a clue what has happened.

Today in the papers there is a report that most British people have no idea how much interest the money they have in a savings account is making. This is pretty basic stuff and if people do not know, care or understand about this simple thing then try explain to them the complexities of financial bubbles, inflation, deflation, money supply, etc.

Telling people that the UK now owes more money than the UK makes in a year - swoosh, right over most people's heads. IMPO most people do not understand what is going on and most people do not actually care what is going on - they have the shiny new kitchen now, they have the flash new car and the fortnight booked in some exotic destination. They ain't going to care until the party stops.

7) I reckon, sheeple get everything from the popular media these days, it'll be makeover programmes and positive spin to blame. 'But I thought prices only went up, it said so on the telly'.

Weve reached the stage where those without the houses are feeling wealthier than there peers that have the houses.

We earn the same wages as them but pay about half the housing costs and dont spend the rest in b &q on a saturday. We also never MEWed so many with houses did just that so they also have loans to pay off.

And our situation caused many of us to save hard so while they spent we saved

So basically the op's friends are just jealous and fel he should be struggling like they are.

The Conservatives. Why? Cos the media will (and Ben Elton - where are you now we need you?) make sure of it. They always carry the can / clean up the house after the party / start repaying for the cost of the Prodigal Son Labour knees-up.

You can bet your bottom dollar/euro that Spitting Image and Ben Elton will reappear when David Cameron wins. Elton - where are you now? Not political any more? Hmmm? Git.

Tony was just on telly saying that high house prices were a result of having such a strong economy

So if it does happen what would have happened to our strong economy

He seems to think that house prices is just a side effect of him being brilliant – but he is going to organise some part buy houses for the millions that can not afford one – what a nice man

People will blame the "economy" like is some completely uncontrollable monster.

And after years of promoting greed and self interest we will be called to stick together

and collectively pull our belts in, and will once again hear phrases from our leaders like

"if it aint hurting it aint working"

suckers

Interestingly he's going/gone (not sure which) on tour for the first time in about 8-9 years. Didn't know he still did stand-up.

I think I preferred young Ben to "Lovie" Ben though.

I suspect it will all depend on just how bad things really get.

I'll bet his material will be mostly anti-Cameron though. Where was he when the Iraq war started? He's being wheeled out to destabilise the Conservative rise.

He's a horrid champagne-socialist in the same line as Tony Robinson and Bono. WHERE are the political satirists now? Who've we got? Jo Corfield?? I'm quite angry you know.
