Realistbear, this article is based on a report from the CBI. They have a vested interest in British Industry. This whole article is just a plea for lower interest rates by the CBI. They are making the same old threats about job cuts etc in order to try for lower interest rates. The CBI often cry out for lower rates. Do a google on this if you don't believe me. Also, WHAT unemployment crisis? Can you please supply (credible) links to show me that the UK is in deep crisis over unemployment at present. Foobar
Also, WHAT unemployment crisis? Can you please supply (credible) links to show me that the UK is in deep crisis over unemployment at present. Not a crisis just yet but somethings brewing... (wow there is even reference to some vague statistical margin of error; it's amazing how we are fed stats with no measure of how accurate they are or even how they were derived) http://www.statistics.gov.uk/cci/nugget.asp?id=12 Edited February 13, 2006 by Foobar

mpd
Typical UK employers, typical CBI! Not: "Energy prices are high, we need to look at ways to be more energy efficient in our workplace" But: "Energy prices are high. We need to lay off staff to reduce costs"! High energy prices - just an excuse to downsize your workforce and get those left behind doing more work for the same money...? Seems to me the CBI has a single mantra - pay your workers as little as possible, and downsize regularly to reduce costs and keep the remainder insecure.
