Small and medium-sized manufacturers in Britain are reeling under the pressure of high energy prices
and even when their costs go up, weak consumer demands force them to cut down selling prices, according to the Confederation of British Industry's quarterly SME trends survey.

What about rents an rates? These have been clobbering small businesses of all sorts for years?

If it is a perfect storm it will be one specially brewed in our own teapot economy. Didn't the CBI come out in support of NuLab at the election?
