Mounting against what?

COVID is the be all and end all? About time. Absurdity that we are somehow immortal without it and thus should sacrifice all on its alter has always been ridiculous.

Shame on the met for preventing the protest tonight, despite the option given by the organisers to do in a risk reduced for covid way.

Its shameful. They offered the met the opportunity to have spacing and marshals etc that was rejected.

So what? You can't protest against against a met murderer as the met says so?

Awful.

Well not all of them. There seems to be a crazy cat lady in the House of Lords going on about a curfew for men or some such nonsense.

Well it’s an interesting point if you look at the stats that show women have been harder impacted by the cv measures than men. There are plenty of articles showing the metrics.

Interesting seeing how some woke blokes tried to make it a virtue signalling fest and redirect the attention onto them :D and how good they are

I’m also reading that other people who have identified themselves as women are trying to claim that they have it farrrr harder and everyone should give them more attention/pity/donations 🙄

Social media seems to have created an endless exercise in out-marginalisation.

Safety of women needs cool, calm thought.

Meanwhile, the police have once again covered themselves in glory and top level resignations are required, both police and politicians.

It is going to take a very long time for public/police relations to recover from the special Covid powers debacle, if ever.

Seems to be an underlying anger all around at the moment.....all sorts of people angry and stressed with others, blaming others......not very calm and peaceful, change, fear and uncertainty is fueling it.;)

Met don’t make the law only enforce it.

I’m glad the police aren’t choosing which laws to enforce and which not to.

The weird thing is yesterday on the radio they were saying the vigil had been cancelled following consultation with the police and was now going to be an online vigil. Obviously some people didn’t get the memo

There are some good coppers out there but there are some serious accountability issues in the police, a presumption that they're above the law and that they can behave as they like. For example, take the following incidents...

This is not an accurate summation. There's quite a lot more to it than that.

The decision on Friday stated that protest wasn't intrinsically unlawful due to the covid regs, that it could be lawful depending on what's proportionate, and the local police needed to assess the risks and proportionality. This is basically because there are human rights law implications to banning protest. The Met then saw their excuse and ran with it, refusing to engage with the organisers or permit the protest merely on the grounds that it might be unlawful. The police very clearly did make a choice in this case.

I do hope the women who were arrested refuse to pay any fines issued, so the government decision to remove protest as a lawful reason to be out of the home from the covid regulations can be challenged.

Anyone know why Princess Kate wasn't hauled off and cuffed? Oh, all animals are equal but some animals are more equal than others.

Get what you pay for, pay criminal wages = get criminals applying for a police job.

There are bad apples and rotten eggs everywhere, that his why there is fear is on the streets......both men and women are fearful of mugging and harming and even death, thankfully that is rare but has not been improving over recent years.......many police stations have closed and policemen rarely walk the streets anymore.;)

Reports say they didn’t get heavy handed until 6:30. Think she left by then.

Quite. The optics are appalling.

Given the events of the past week, this was predictable.

BJ, yes the prime minister, should have anticipated this and instructed the home secretary to instruct the Met commissioner to to make sure that events did not escalate into this debacle. All three should resign.

Boris and Priti can't do that, they've got to get the bill allowing people to be imprisoned for 10 years for protesting through the Commons first. Wouldn't be shocked to see Dick carry the can on this one though. Priti had the stone cold effing cheek to demand an explanation for last night's events, which tells us something about how she intends to play this.

Would not be a good day if under the cover of CoVid the right to protest is removed into the future, civil rights, freedom of speech we have valued and respected for many years......a sad day indeed for our country.;)
