rogerthelodger
http://www.eveningtimes.co.uk/hi/news/5048728.html EVERY landlord in Scotland will have to register with their local council in the next few weeks - or face a fine of up to £5000. The new laws will also see property owners risking criminal proceedings if they allow their tenants to be rowdy. And landlords face background checks to see if they are "fit and proper" people to rent out homes. sorry just noticed there is another thread on this: http://www.housepricecrash.co.uk/forum/ind...showtopic=23787 Edited February 9, 2006 by rogerthelodger
JBFTB
Finally, a step in the right direction. I'll never forget the landlady who, through her complete lack of organisation, decided she wanted me to leave with one week's notice. I've never been more glad of using a letting agency, and I would consider her falling outside the definition of "fit and proper." Some of these clueless morons have no understanding of how they affect other peoples' lives - we're not human beings to them, just cash machines.
