Plans for 129 homes at old Carpets of Worth factory in Stourport

Recommended Posts

PLANS have been submitted to build more than 100 new homes on the old Carpets of Worth site in Stourport.

Barratt Homes wants to develop 129 homes, including 13 affordable properties, on the former carpet factory site in Severn Road and has submitted a full planning application to Wyre Forest District Council.

The site, which sits on the southern section of the former Bond Worth carpet factory, has been vacant for many years and the majority of the buildings on the land have already been demolished.

The northern part of the old Bond Worth site now houses the Tesco superstore and a petrol station.

Access to the new housing development would be taken from Severn Road.

Barratt Homes says the plans will help to boost the supply of affordable housing in Wyre Forest.

Richard Miller, land director for Barratt Homes West Midlands, said: “Following an online public consultation exercise which ran for four weeks during August and September, we submitted a planning application for 129 homes to Wyre Forest District Council in October.

"If approved, the scheme will deliver much needed housing on a redundant brownfield site, creating jobs and economic spend locally.

"The development proposals are focussed on providing predominantly two and three bedroom homes with a small number of four bedroom homes.”
