Buying a house with an existing AST agreement

Most of the stuff should be picked up by your solicitor as all of these things are part of the conveyancing process.

In terms of evicting the tenant, good luck with that as the current environment makes it extremely difficult.

You will not get them out. No chance. 

Before lockdown, you had to give them 6 months, then the court would be expected to take another 6 moths to kick them out if they didn't leave. 

Now with lockdown, you can't even expect to get rent out of them, let alone evict them.


I would be telling the landlord there is no chance of a sale with a tenant in place.
