Looks like this is about to come into being. Not my area of expertise at all but came across it while looking for something else.  This could have a huge impact on blocks of flats, both existing and new build, couldn’t it?

The UK already has strict building regulations. The problem is a lack of enforcement. Local authorities used to inspect and enforce the building regulations but the Tories introduce independent inspectors to sign off building works. The remaining building control departments have been decimated by austerity. This is just window dressing so that Jenrick's developer chums can carry on building dangerous slums.
