HPC Website Performance - Packet Loss

Recommended Posts

Whoever manages this website - you should know the performance is appalling... Clearly whoever hosts your website has over provisioned the server that your website shares. It's dropping more packets than it's accepting (78% packet loss at the time of writing)... It's pretty much unusable in the evenings and I'm bored of replying to posts and losing what I've written. I've just tried 4 times to upload a 4kb image of one of the many errors I see, but the upload just fails... I'll attached them if it ever lets me...

Can you fix this please?

Could be a noisy neighbour.

What does all this mean? Best to copy/paste from Word to avoid losing a post?

It means their web server intermittently disappears off the internet because it's so overwhelmed it can't respond to network packet requests. It is... but we shouldn't have to... it needs fixing - which probably means moving it to another host provider.

Do you think they're renting a server from a 'provider' and filling it with multiple site owners - a Server of Multiple Occupancy?

They most certainly are... it's normal, but greedy host providers over provision their hosts to lower their costs... they're trying it on! :)

VIs infiltrating the network and causing a nuisance to disrupt all this negative narrative! :D

But yes in all seriousness it is somewhat slow, especially in the evenings.

I can only assume it's a denial of service attack from BTL landlords... f****s will try anything! :)

They're more  'underpants on the server' types ?

If they knew ANYTHING about this sort of technology, they wouldnt be into BTL!

It's easy enough to rent a bot army on the dark web... no skillz required! They could even MEW to pay for it! :)

The ping from my IP appears OK, but the site is very slow loading pages.
