Trampa501
Lockdown hits Quote The Self-employment Income Support Scheme announced by the Chancellor will allow taxi and private hire vehicle drivers to claim a taxable grant worth 80 per cent of their trading profits. Not sure that they're better off now the lockdown is eased...
NoHPCinTheUK
I took Uber last week and the driver told me he’s doing fine. Sorry for those driving a black cab but it’s a business from last century.

reddog
I was in the back of an Uber the other day, he said he worked right through the lockdown and was extremely busy. Only glanced at the article, but I am not sure what unique skill set black cab drivers have that would help with Corona.

A lot of newly self-employed were punished by govt measures, but at least in this case the honest tax payer benefited. In a similar vein, a lot of shops have folded (even though they may have been quite profitable) because they were operating under a dodgy basis - illegal subletting/not registered for business rates with the council. Consequently they were unable to claim the interruption grant that councils administered.
