High Council Tax Bill Stop Ftb's Buying ......

Recommended Posts

 I could not believe this article on the main page!

High Council tax bills are the last thing anyone trying to get on the property ladder is thinking about !!Never mind the fact that a house in some areas is 3 times overpriced !!!

I can tell you one thing if I was told to had to pay say another 100 quid a year Council Tax but could purchase a decent house for about 60 grand I don't think I would be too upset!

What are these Media people on?

They have no concept of the problems young (and not so young) people are up against in this

country !!

Grrrrr ! I get so angry sometimes !!!

In fact I'm so angry the only thing which will pacify me is a bit of ESTATE AGENT baiting !!!

I think that's only legal now if it doesn't involve the use of hounds?

More to the point, you don't need to buy a property to pay council tax on it.

If you own a BTR, or second home I guess, and there´s no-one in it, is council tax paid?

I know there are reductions for single occupants, but what if there´s no-one there?

btp

Second homes have a 10% discount if unoccupied

The whole thing is a complete nonsense of course. Once again giving me an opportunity to rant about the general failure of maths teaching in this country (or is that social science... can't remember). Tenants pay council tax. Has it occured to the morons that write these articles to check that small detail first, and having once done so to find that if you have to pay council tax either way then that is a nil balance equasion.
