The question was asking if anyone would be tempted to get into BTL if there was a 60% crash in prices. I clearly answered ‘no’  because I’m not the kind of person who would do that, much the same as several other people did. You’re also trying to compare apples and oranges.

I am and I am anti BTL but they are two points on a continuum some people have excellent landlords who provide a service and many people are exploited by unscrupulous employers looking at it that way how or when or indeed at what price you entered the market would seem irrelevant

I am renting at the moment simply because I cannot afford to buy.

During my mid to late 20’s I rented because I wanted to. I did not know what area or city I wanted to spend my life in. I also remember renting being much cheaper than a mortgage at this time. During this time I did not feel landlords were taking advantage of me they were simply providing a service.

I recall now why I got pissed off with this site previously.

So many illibertarians aka socialists.

X SHOULDN’T be able to do this.

Try living in China or Saudi or socialist states in US etc

Our current incarnation of BTL over the last 20 years or so has crossed that shaky line between one mans freedom to do what he wants, and another mans oppression.  It is damaging our productive young people’s ability to create wealth and is therefore damaging our capitalist society.

In my opinion only obviously.

Nope. If we didn’t bail out failed businesses every time there would be few BTLers and HPs 75% smaller.

Go to roots, not weeds.

Being socialist does not make a person illiberal, just like being a libertarian not making a person amoral.

Literally, you cannot be for freedom and be a socialist.

Simply hilarious that idiots/ignoramuses believe you can be/do both.

Depends on your definition of socialism. I could say that libertarians are totally without morals, only ever concerned with themselves.

I would be wrong though. Like you.
