London has the highest ratio of ICU beds per 100k residents in the country by a wide margin.I don't know how much difference it will make if 5k beds are in demand by 65k patients (UK wide). MP from inverness on the telly was making the point that the people going there in camper wagons were mad- the last place in the UK to get ill was eg sutherland, inverness was a tiny hospital and could be 3 hours away. Not just beds - professionals, specialists - money. Rich people live in London, rich people get good stuff. Last thing I’m doing in this situation is hiving off to the far end of Tanglebutt St Pippins in a campervan with limited food and water supplies. jiltedjen
After shutting caravan parks, all the holiday makers started setting up shop on residential streets. you think at some point people would get the idea to just go home. sit in your caravan on your drive at home if you want to. A friend of mine is on a Facebook group dedicated to caravanning (each to their own). A lot of these people are retired and don't have homes any more, they just permanently motor-home all year round. Which got me thinking.....what happens now to other people with no actual residence? The homeless, the sofa-surfers etc. I know it won't be a big group of people but there are always those that don't have an actual home. Do the people on this thread really think they are going to get any help whatsoever from th NHS? London or elsewhere. Have you watched the videos of hospitals in Italy on Sky's youtube? One of them had a chapel full of occupied coffins, only one person had survived their stay in ICU. That's Italy with a hugely better health service, not our 4th rate joke. My choice is made should I have to choose ... stay home with maximum heat and meds I have here. Not only the better chance of survival IMO but a much better place to die. Nasty painful death but at least you're not surrounded by others screaming in pain and beeping machines. In ICU currently you are also routinely denied visitors so you will die there alone [report from a family I know who just experienced that]. If it's your time, it's your time. Keep safe people.
