As I stated, I'll wait for the results of the serious, rigorous studies. I wish it well. Any drug that has a high success rate has to be a great thing. In fact if it has an extremely high success rate then it's far better than any vaccine.

Over in Canada the Conservative Party hired a former Huawei vice president for their most important department.

It's a unique approach compared to how dictatorships have been installed in the past, such as China with violence for the large part.

The virus narrative will be clutched onto as much and for as long as possible. The thought: "hang on a minute, that oppressive thing they are doing now has nothing to do with a virus, is that what it was all about from the start?"  is something they want at the very latest.

The West doing business with someone isn't a sign that it's a civilised place, it's a sign that money talks. A country with a human rights record like China's has scant claim to the "civilised" label.

The suggestion that the West isn't complicit in those crimes is for the fairies. Modern China is incontestably a product of the politics of globalisation - arguably its defining achievement. And no-one gets a four day State Visit complete with all the trimmings unless he's part of the club

Obviously, not being able to define civilised somewhat undermines your denialist narrative. It's also worth remembering that Britain's human rights record is every bit as bad, something the Chinese especially know all too well.
