BBC's House of Cards

Is anyone else (re)watching this?

It reminded me of a piece I read by Matthew Parris, a journalist who had been a Conservative MP, around the time John Major's leadership was beginning to fail.  Various pundits had been speculating about if, when and how Major would be toppled.  Parris explained that to understand the leadership of the Conservative party it was necessary to understand the four 'P's:  No Person, no Policy, no Principle is more important than Power.

What I find striking when rewatching this in 2019 is how Urquhart sees power as something for the Conservative party to aim to hold for the long term, which contrasts sharply with the short-termism of politicians today.
