Charity loses thirteen grand of donations due to a bad bank transfer l

Recommended Posts

Same thing happened at our work twice, but only £200 or so lost on the first occasion. Basically the scammer had hacked their (supplier's) email, and replied to previous order emails saying the bank details had changed. They had done it in the same e-mail style as well (same personal greetings/signing off etc), and without the typical foreign scammer grammatical errors.

The supplier had lost quite a bit to this scam unfortunately. Our policy now is to get any bank change in writing, and over the phone with the accounts contact.
