Frugal Recipes For Success

Recommended Posts

In response to the extra saving thread... whats your best/cheapest recipe?

To start.. one from my student days (I think it came from the book Grub on a Grant), which years later I still cook on occasions.

Cook some pasta until just cooked.

Drain and return to pan.

Add tinned tuna, tinned sweetcorn and tinned tomato sauce.

Heat and stir.

Serve with some cheese on top and/or salad.

1 slice of bread

1 tin of beans

1 toaster.

:lol::lol:

If it was me, it would be 2-3 slices on bread and 1/2 a tin of beans... and a clause to repeat tomorrow ;)

Boiled rice, a fried egg, stir-fried spinach. I once lived on this three times a day for three weeks.

Ingredients:

2 eggs.

Knob (tee hee) of butter.

Pinch of salt and pepper.

Method:

Boil eggs.

Peel and place in cup with butter and condiments.

Chop with a knife.

Eat with teaspoon.

For a little variety use posh cups, or use a mug if you want more eggs.

Loads of cheap recipes here. I like to make pasta carbonara with a couple of eggs and a few chunks of cooking bacon personally. Total cost is about 50p and one dirty pan :).
