Sky news Reader (and property landlord) Criticised for Interview with Homeless Tenant (victim of Section 21)

Recommended Posts

"That's just the housing market"...err no...the market is grotesquely distorted to deliberately shift wealth between groups.

Ive commented on the left an their love of leveraged property investment.

Media is very left leaning.

The sooner the likes of her end up bankrupt, the better.

Nobody is forced to rent a place out......if she doesn't like her tenants, finds them irritating, lazy or stupid she should sell up and free herself.......looked spoilt, entitled and smug in that clip......;)

Yes you have. And for sure there are lefty politicians guilty of it.

Just wondering if you're going to bother showing any evidence for your assertion that the left is more populated with landlords than the right?

Rather pathetic attempt at trying to squirm out of it.

The replies are well worth a read!

The many replies are almost without exception hostile towards Secker, including some from landlords.

Sky should sack her forthwith and not give her a chance to resign.

I come from a Labour family. I socialise with a lot of small town politics.

Over the last 15 years, various Ive seen a huge number of still n slightly reformed communists to socialist buy portfolios, which they shove people in benefits in.

Then, when the money does not roll in, they cut maintenace and be total t w ats.

I know a few conservative types, small business men.

One look at the leverage and yield and they say No.

You should publish your findings. They're fascinating.

The news anchor should have apologised for the condescending tone of her interview straight after rather the interviewee's careless choice of words. What an odious cow.

WTF was she going on about 'tenants not changing lightbulbs'? That's going way off the S21 debate and its a very extreme example of a poor tenant or a tenant not using initiative.

Shame it wasn't a HPCer type interviewed and could have replied with things like: "Do you know what the base rate is at the moment?"......."Do you know what % of tax payers bailout money is / was lent towards actual wealth and job creating business?"........"Do you know about Quantative easing is and it affects?"........."Do you understand the tax advantages differences between OO and LL in the last decade up until recently?" etc etc etc.

Changing a light-bulb.....you what?

Why is it my problem if a landlord gets a sh#te tenant? If it was such a financial turkey shoot this shouldn't be a problem?

Some very interesting stuff on the Newsreaders Twitter there. Mostly deservedly negative.

Also, the tenant she spoke to, Kirsty, has been getting support, and has been invited to write an article in the Guardian.

good to see.

Great article! A nice little dig at Secker in the last paragraph. :P Secker was being a bit like Harry Enfield's character 'Considerable Richer Than Yau!' in her stupid interview.

It's such a shame that there wasn't more council housing available for workers like Kirsty, especially in London. I get the impression that when council homes do come up they're getting offered to the wrong people a lot of the time.

I really don't understand landlords who whinge about how hard it is being a landlord. Nobody asked you to become a landlord, nobody cares if you sell up, if you don't like it just take the unearned HPI gains and walk away.
