Yep, I just say we live in a cashless society now and offer to buy them a bar of chocolate, the genuinely hungry/needy usually accept, the scammers just run their spiel about can you give them fags or whatever and I just walk away.

I've noticed more London beggars working the trains recently. And more of those gypsy accordion players. Saw a young chap walk into a large cafe and do a circuit of all the yummy mummies sipping their coffees. Staff were too busy to notice but he had that Gotta Get A Hit ASAP look on his face so I expect he would have tried anything.

I watched the show so far and found it interesting but it didn't really change my views.

been in 3 different pubs in 3 different areas and all 3 had some bloke walking round asking for money.  I guess the guy was actually homeless as he started eating the the left over chicken wings that had been left on the table partially eaten already. 🤢

sad really he was only about 25

Last year on Radio Sheffield they covered homelessness and rough sleepers in the city centre. They interviewed a copper who specialised in dealing with them. He pointed out that none of the blokes he dealt with (they were all men, exercising their male privilege I guess) had to sleep rough, as they all had at least a bed in a hostel available. But they chose to do so that they could stick with their drink n drugs habits.

Last Sept I was shocked to see a couple of blokes slumped comatose in shop doorways on Fargate at ~9pm and my medic companion said that they get a lot of people like that admitted after taking 'spice'. Given the state they were in fook knows what the attraction of it is...
