Sunday Bloody Sunday

I don't see what the controversy is about.

Train up a bunch of psychopaths. Send them off to teach the lesser breeds a lesson.

And let's face it, the 1972 army and establishment  did view the Irish as lesser breeds.

At least one of them was bound to do exactly that. The most young and most stupid probably.

50 years later, the establishment is blaming it all on the psychopaths and pretending it was nothing to do with them.

What's controversial about that? Isn't that all obviously true?

The British army since the war has essentially streamed all those recruits with psychopathic tendencies into the paratroop regiment. Goose Green shows why (if you want to win a real war) that can sometimes be useful. However,  whoever it was that thought it was a good idea to have them police a peace demonstration needs shooting immediately.

The British army had always had southern irish divisions, even after the formation of the Eire- you know that right? that the german army was stopped in its tracks at Mons in 1914 by an irish division? most british people have irish people in their families? (i certainly do). It would be very difficult to see them as subhuman. Much more accurately misguided in their rejection of the superiority of British culture and thinking. Very similar to the French attitude to its minorities, eg the banning of Breton as a spoken language that lasted into the middle of the 20th century.

Overreacting and shooting up a crowd of unarmed *relatively innocent protestors was a massive recruitment and propaganda boost for the real enemy.

(*the protestors could, at minute turn into a mob, or act as friendly eyes to IRA ambushers).

You know, all the centuries of BS with Irish famine, refugees, insurrection, sectarianism, and terrorism has its roots in greedy landlords having everything their own way and shoving most people onto tiny plots of rented property?
