Why I No Longer Care About Unemployment Stats

Recommended Posts

...“unemployment is down” shouldn’t be praised because more people are in work, rather, “unemployment is down” should tell you more people are being exploited

Cheerful thought to start the BH weekend with...exploited by their employers, then they hand over what they do get to the rentiers..

What an absolute leftoid cretin.

the government has to then subsidise these wages with benefits pay-outs

Never does it occur to such a creature that it is this very State intervention which is causing and perpetuating the problems it mewls about.

These serpent-tongued proliferators of Socialist propaganda should be verbally abused at every opportunity, lest the ignorant or slow become further entrapped within the fantasy that living parastically off of others is somehow moral.

You should not care about unemployment stats, because they are a fantasy cooked up in the moment in order to support whatever action is expedient for the government or its bank.

They are merely to be used to help predict what actions the State may take next.

Many people live off the work of others by renting the stuff they need to live to them... Morals where do you draw the line? ;)

I wonder whether you can tell me what the essential difference is between council tax and rent.

Council tax is a fee payable for public services in the area where you live..... The rent paid is taking advantage of the facilities, the ambience, the infrastructure the security the law, peace, the work availability etc... What the people built and provided in the past to make a certain place a great place to live....the people that made it great may no longer live there, they may not no longer live, but many others are reaping the benefits without actually have contributed anything towards it. ;)

Nope.

If  you want to stop making use of the landlord's services, you can stop paying rent and move out. If you no longer wish to have your bins collected, you can't stop paying that part of your council tax without them coming with their thugs to literally break your kneecaps.

Do you want your bins collected? At least with CT you can kinda see what you get for your money....

Rent has no relevance to value.... They take it and make it up as they go along.... Don't worry thousands do and will pay rents, but they go and find a rent of value..... Others don't know what value is so they continue paying it.....their loss. ;)

I had an elderly person call me once about what is a fair deal price for an hours gardening, they didn't have a clue, that is inflation for you... £10ph or £20ph.....what is that telling you about income and costs.... Value for money or out and out liberty to gain/extort as much as possible.... DYOR. ;)

What is unemployment? What is employment?..... One day working a week is that employment? 48 hours a week is that double employment? ;)

It's all meaningless to me these days, there was a time I suppose where I understood what the concept of having good jobs meant and having plenty of them. A job the way I saw it was around 38 -50 hours and paid you enough money to pay all your bills.

Too many of the jobs going these days are just pointless, just like having a £20k wage, £30K or £40k, to me £20k is little different from a £40k in the sense of financial reward, it just means you work harder and are probably more skilled. The person earning £20k who say can not survive will usually get credits or welfare to bring them more in line with those earning £30-£40k.

Yeah, hi, slight correction - the idea that living parasitically off others is somehow moral is essentially the definition of right-wing politics. See, for example, every king in history, every theocracy and the whole history of capitalism.

Or maybe you think the Catholic Church, Louis the XIV or Alabama cotton plantation owners were socialists 😆

That's a fallacy, just because they weren't socialists doesn't mean they were right wing in any identifiable sense.

It’s not a fallacy, it’s sarcasm.

All the groups I picked are obviously, manifestly, right-wing, that’s why I picked them.

In the case of the French monarchy, that’s literally the historical origin of the term.

Much like the current Tory govt (minus the hpi boondoggles) and the Coalition before it.

Left... left... left. ;)

Landlords exploit others, it’s slavery.. they are too stupid to earn an honest living so exploit others by taking their hard earned money from them in return for renting them a house at a price they could buy one for and still have change..

its GREED... !

we must stop the slaver parasites.. houses like all basic needs must be protected from economic terrorists.

I agree with what he's saying. Historically, when you had low levels of unemployment, you got inflation from rising wages because workers were in an enhanced bargaining position. That clearly isn't the case at the moment, for the sorts of reasons he's talking about - now, wages are stagnating - I say 'now', I mean for the past 40 years. Not proper jobs. And so many people now are nominally self-employed but actually have no control over their work-lives. They can't charge good rates, are not in charge of what jobs they accept, a young amazon delivery bloke I was quizzing recently said that he'd knackered his leg, doctor said take 2 weeks off but he could only take 4 days off. Suckola. But the PTB have achieved another grim coup - they can now avoid the PR problems of their historical liking for a nice competitive market in jobs, aka high levels of unemployment, whilst not having to trouble themselves about the lower orders, aka the people who actually do things, getting uppity and demanding better conditions. Nice one you vilers, again.

Absolutely spot on. Meanwhile the people continue to be divided and misdirected.

Easy in a country like England majority populated by judgemental snobs and bigots.

So why don't they?
