22% off of a boat in Bristol. I am at a loss for words really...no info as to whether the mooring is included, for this price I would hope so.

It seems a common theme with houseboats - overprice and then reduce in massive chunks until someone bites.  Certainly in London, if you arrange Zoopla results by price reduction, it isn't unusual for half the first page to be houseboats.

I've been tempted many times, but when you look at the cost of mooring (£800+ pcm) it isn't massively cheaper than rent, particularly if you also need a six figure capital sum to buy a boat.  Mates did it and regretted it, despite having a very nice boat.

I wonder is it another aspirational lifestyle option that just costs too much?

RE Houseboats, its not just the issue of rent...the thing is floating on water so all of these claims about repairs and surveys have to be accurate and the workmanship has to be top notch. Else the thing ultimately sinks; when there is work required I cant imagine any houseboater has a huge amount of choice in where to go.

Also from what little I have seen of house boat area...they look like slums.

I concur....but just in the interest of balance (and it isn’t really a balance because it is a shocking price) but whoever has done up this boat has done an absolutely marvellous job. It’s looks stunning...

It’s so nice I would be tempted at £30k and that is £30k more than I would have ever paid for any other houseboat. 😉

Yes same here...or 30K for a conversion project with a mooring in the price, but it would have to be in a nice area with a piece of land around the mooring. Forget this nonsense of a monthly rent along with no choice as to any alternative...imagine falling out with who ever owns the area!

I agree with the unwilling to pay more than $30k sentiment and the problems of maintenance. But I wouldn't categorize the area of Bristol where this one is moored (nor any part of the floating harbour) as slummy.

Even with a 30% drop this vendor is still a fully fledged member of the "Worshipful Institute of Kite Fliers", and I suspect a founding member of the London chapter of "greater fools". £840k for a 3 bed semi in Acton....I jest not!

I expect to see another drop in the order of 10 - 20k soon.

Wow. They bought that for £265k in 2005.

I sometimes wonder if the whole perspective of HPC contributors is wildly skewed depending on your location. This suggests it could be.

I keep going on about buying within a bandwidth and trying to help my son get something at 2005 type prices. It seems these ‘near London’ location prices are complete madness.

£850k for a three bed (well two bed really) semi. Seriously who would think living in that area was worth it

Hmm....another thread on another day maybe

To be fair, that is (IMHO as a west london resident!) one of the nicer bits of Acton - feels more like North Ealing; leafy, mock-tudor houses, nicely planned 1930s layouts. Quite a big Japanese community. Still a crazy price especially given how small it is mind!

Leafy!? It would have to be located in Kew Mutha Fricking Gardens for me to pay anywhere near that amount of the worlds wealth to live in that house.

34.5% off of a 2 bed apartment in W6 (Hammersmith/Fulham).

The frequency of drops would indicate another drop soon. Note the spike of optimism in Aug 2020...this and some of the stock type photos leads me to think this might be a developer selling.

That has all the charm of a morgue. It's almost a parody of contemporary interior design, except it's not a parody. How on earth could anybody feel even remotely homely in that?

Looks like it was marketed until March 2020 @ £850k, not sure if it sold then. The Rightmove picture back then show a hedge around it but I have been unable to check if it had been painted white and all the blinds removed...adding a healthy £150k.

I assume for an end terrace like this that the queen lives next door to justify the price tag. 😉
