So the government

  • Jacks up the price of housing with HTB, TFS and HB
  • Jacks up asset prices with never-before-seen low interest rates
  • Uses overwhelming violence to prevent people from building new housing
  • Destroys the economy with taxation and regulation

And the Creepier Media's cry is

Quote

the government must urgently come up with a new plan for social housing that delivers the genuinely affordable homes we desperately need

"What we're doing isn't working, so what we need to do is more of the same, but to a much greater extent."

Yep, and they have managed to brainwash the population into believing that house prices only ever go up, like it is some kind of natural phenomenon that is out of their hands.

I don't know what you're moaning about TBH Locke - after all, it's the policies that you come on here purposely to promote (small state/low tax/deregulation) that have left us with massively unaffordable housing (deregulation of the finance sector), massive levels of debt (regulation of the finance sector). And poor-quality, extremely expensive services that require bailout when things don't go well (eg. Carillion).

40+ years of privatisation, laissez faire (lack of industrial planning) and financial DEregulation have brought us to this point.

You should be celebrating your victory! Viva Hayek!
