US Mortgage Rates Going Up...

If a choice is indeed possible, I get the impression our modern day officials will always opt for long stagnation over crash.  Above all else, they would like to avoid any sudden blows to their popularity. They probably feel that a long stagnation can be addressed by the dark arts of PR manipulation to maintain their popularity for long enough, whereas a short crash cannot.

Agreed. One major factor is the country's reputation is valued on the basis of its currency. 

The markets are not buying into pumping up Sterling anymore. So I expect inflation to start shooting upwards, when the currency value is felt across the wider economy. They will attempt to protect consumer debt at all costs, as it underpinned the GDP growth over the last 10 years.

The UK does not realky have a chouce.

The risk free IR - US rares - is going up.

Uk need to raise theirs higher. The longetpr the uk refuses to raise rares, the higher theyll have to raise them.

UK has had 10 to sort its mess out.
