Well they could hardly say they have been making £200m a year from unfair and unjustifiable fees charged to tenants who previously had no option but to pay those fees. They needed an excuse that wasn't to do with them looking after themselves and this excuse is the best they came up with.

Too late.

They had their chance to self regulate, outline some rules and keep fees to just incurred costs.

But no, they scammed it.

This is the outcome of their own actions.

Here's an idea for EAs.

Start valuing property at a sensible price and earn a living from sales rather than shafting tenants with made up and exorbitant fees.

They can have that one for free.
