You're right on the money there. I caught the end by accident and it was particularly intentional - guy even talked about being cautious of a pending downturn, but Phil hoped to persuade him to buy anyway. [email protected]

Turned out that our Phil was right all along and prices never fall.... so don't get ideas plebs, buy or else.

The choice of shite on the TV these days is depressing. Endless reruns of countless property shows on many channels, serial killers and cookery. Is there a subliminal message there? If you watch a film its 3hrs long with 1hrs worth of adverts.

These days i try to minise TV airtime, you tube and amazon seems to have more orignal and watchable content.

Phil and Kirsty are indeed the very public face of the very evil house price bubble. They would be wise to go to ground in the hope the public forgets about them and their major role in bubble cheerleading. And the BBC and Channel 4 need to appreciate the new zeitgeist and consign all property porn shows to history.

Kirsty is the No 1 villain as far as I am concerned, everything about her just sends me into spasm when I see her on TV, Phil for some reason I can forgive, as well as Sarah Beeny. There is just something about that over opinionated little hairy pig that just sends me off, the way she looks into the camera and just talks complete drivel as if she was the wisest woman ever put on this earth, and I am not just talking property here.

I remember getting into a spat with her on Twitter and made sure to stay very very polite, I asked what were her qualifications when it came to being such a Guru on property, you could tell she was trying to guide me into a bun fight, but I stayed polite which made her worse, she would far sooner be telling everyone how she was attacked on social media, she blocked me in the end :)

To date I have managed to watch her for 10 minutes on TV, that's my record, any longer is too painful.

I haven't had a tv for over 20 years. I always knew that it was a passing fad. :)

There is so much free educational material available now that there aren't enough hours in the day if you have a thirst for knowledge.

But Phil Spencer said Harlequin was a winner! Said 'I am investing...I'm happy with the business model..'

Hear him on Moneybox today, as the sorry saga is revealed. 1 min 40 secs onwards...

Excellent find! I could'nt get the actual ad anywhere online so the BBC clip is a keeper. Our Phil is described as "Presenter of C4s 'Location Location Location'" and his full quote is:

"I can see the vision is becoming a reality. Harlequin is what it says it is. I am investing and nobody did me a good deal or anything I'm happy with Harlequin model"

Moneybox describes David Ames as a "twice-bankrupt former double-glazing salesman." Apparently he raised £250m?

(His fraud case is set for September this year, I understand.)

I have nevertheless  watched a property show in my life.  When rubbish like that is on TV if I am in I read a book.

You should do even more reading and keep away from this website.

So Phil Spencer endorses an alleged fraudulent business model? Pretty well sums up Kirstie and Phil's moral philosophy. I'm sure they would be Bernie Madoff's most enthusiastic cheerleaders if he was pushing property fraud.

He was'nt the only 'sleb to "lend" his name, but as a "property guru" he deserves that much more ridicule!

"The Harlequin Property scheme had endorsements from stars including former Wimbledon champion Pat Cash, golf legend Gary Player, football pundit Andy Townsend, TV property guru Phil Spencer and Liverpool Football Club. There is no suggestion that any of the stars who endorsed or promoted the scheme were involved in any wrongdoing."

(Also from the above, the fraud case is set for 7 January 2019, not this autumn)

I always recall a young man who dared to offer less than asking price once. Kirsty tore a strip of the guy. Almost how dare you offer less then asking...WTFlip

I like my newbie tag, I forgot my old log on from 15 years ago, well I didn't post for 10 of them!!!!!!!!!

Interesting times, the social impact of this mess has always been my interest and concern. Renters with private landlord have no local vested interest given they have 2 months notice to move to who nows where, perhaps thats another topic.

That's the current situation of my youngest and his family. They thought that they'd found an ideal rental. Not a btl, the owners had lived there for 15 years but needed to leave the area.

3 months in, the owners daughter splits with her bf and needs a place to live. My son got 2 months notice. Less than than 2 weeks of it left and they still haven't found anywhere that lets their children go to the same school.

I think that they'd rather be paying an extra £300 a month on an IO mortgage than be in the situation they're in now. An IO mortgage might be renting from the bank but the bank doesn't tell you to leave if you keep paying them.

Kirstie Allsopp defends flying business while children go economy

Television presenter Kirstie Allsopp has defended her decision to sit separately from her sons when flying.

Ms Allsopp told the Sun newspaper that she and her partner sometimes sit in the business class cabin, while her children, 10 and 12, sit in economy.

Some have suggested she "look after" her children and sit with them.

This, Ms Allsopp said - was "utter rubbish", adding that having her sons in premium seats seemed "an absurd waste of money" and "very spoiling".

She pointed out the money saved from not buying two more expensive seats allows her family to "take a shed load of holidays".

"Club class should be huge treat that you've worked for. If kids get used to Club class what do they have to work towards?" she said.

LLL was a perfect vehicle  for Kirsty when it first came out and quite a few years later. It was hard to screw up a TV  format where the vast majority of the UK were salivating  at the prospect of ever rising house prices and were 100% on your side. She failed at school and was placed in half a dozen  various private schools by her Toff parents because she never got on with any of them. Unlike most woman with silly titles(she is a lady) she played up to her title and really thought she was talking down to serfs.

She has had numerous fallings out with various people including celebrities and REAL business people, and though there is nothing wrong with an opinionated woman she rarely gets anything right in what she says in any subject. And until this day she has failed to explain what made her such an authority on property and what were her qualifications, many people suspected a powerful Daddy in high places helping her with a masonic handshake or two probably.

If there is ever a history book in years to come with the story of the Great property crash they could do worse than put a picture of her on the front cover as the face of a corrupt and evil ponzi scheme that wrecked many lives, though she was not the only guilty person, but she was the face of all that greed.
