Expect a lot more of this in the media as the new generation comes through. Generally low paid, often freelance work often based in big cities - I suspect that the vast majority of sub 40 year old journalists are renting.

Totallt agree! How many journalists want to promote btl and HPI when sharing a place with random people after spending years to get into the profession. Only concern is that the priced-out generation need to get to high positions as they have the most influence- resisting the tide can be difficult.

What's needed is for not just young people to have this viewpoint but the wider society. If parents, grandparents and employers all go against landlords then there's political pressure to change things. At the minute too many people do not understand the advantages LLs have over OO such as interest only mortgages and no need for income requirements (other than the received rent)

They probably have more in common with their frothing-at-the-mouth-at-the-very-idea-of-socialism Daily Mail reading counterparts than either would be happy to admit.

Wow he really unloaded on LLs didn't he.

From the tone of the article it didn't sound like a journalistic investigation, more like a rant from someone who has been personally fecked over by parasite crabs  scumbags  benevolent providers of accomodation.

I've always assumed, from his Kitchen Gadget column, that he was an OO.

A photo of his kitchen - any obvious signs of a rental?

Seems to be more a case of yet another SJW article from the Guardian rather than an actual serious assessment of the corrosiveness  of HPI and taking a stance against it ... even if the end result is the same.

Still - more grist to the mill.

If everyone in the world disappeared except Landlords. They would have to look after themselves.

If all Landlords in the world disappeared people would continue looking after themselves and it would be easier to do so.

Same as many other host / parasite comparisons. Land is the host, people are the red blood cells, the two of which can live in on, on their own. Landlords are the leech.

Even if you're an OO you come into contact with parasite crabs  scumbags  benevolent providers of accommodation when your kids start to leave home. You should see the state of some student lets. At least I didn't have to worry that my kids were going to mess it up.

This. And it won't make any difference to any landlord.

he works constant 10-15 hour days except when he's only working two weeks a month, apparently...

and he has/had all his money invested in crypto and BTL, and despite his amazing income the leveraged profits on his BTLs pay his mortgage where he lives - doesn't entirely add up
