Parkwell
Was some very nice snow. Shame it didn't last longer. Seemed pretty mild round here considering all the panic.
Bsmf
Why did the shops run out of fruit and veg? But not the long life stuff. People are so effing huge around here and you rarely see someone with more than one or two bit of fruit and veg in their trolly. It seemed bizzare. Why would you panic buy kale or celery? crashmonitor
Snow about the same depth as "the Beast", seven inches today. Only this time didn't get our car parked near a main road, not that we were needing it today. But may be struggling tomorrow and beyond. Didn't look like it was happening yesterday. CET still 0.2c above the 1960-1990 average for 2018 to 16th March. Just forgotten how cold it used to be. The old definition of Winter..21st December to 20th March looking a bit more appropriate this year. If you are looking for anomalous weather in March, you need to look all the way back to March 2013, which was the coldest March since 1962 and equal second coldest since 1910. https://www.metoffice.gov.uk/climate/uk/summaries/2013/march
Lord D'arcy Pew
Heads up ladies and Gentlemen. The cold area that has been causing massive snow falls on the continent is moving in our direction. Met Office have an alert for very cold weather in February, reserve troops are on standby. Conditions and timing of event similar to 1947. https://blog.metoffice.gov.uk/2017/01/26/winter-1947-brought-a-freeze-to-post-war-britain/

There was a little bit of ice on the canal this morning, first time I've seen it this year, but it's certainly been a very mild winter up until now. Now is usually around the coldest time. Sour Mash
Yeah, there have been reports of an imminent big freeze for weeks and so far, the Winter has been exceptionally mild. It's like waiting for a HPC.
winkie
A short strong cold spell is a good thing......helps kill the bugs and viruses, also helps many seeds to germinate and holds back certain plants that think it is spring too early..... Will!
I think maybe he turned off his gas to save us all and froze to death. Quite sad really. Towards the end I was rooting for him to be right he'd called it so many times but it never materialised. Even the coldest December in 100 years didn't deliver.
