Rents falling against inflation now

Recommended Posts

Interesting one to watch this. My landlord set our rent increases against this a while back - I wanted RPI as rents were spiralling. Well I was, luckily, wrong and if I extrapolate the last 7 months with no more drops it looks like my rent rise will be £12 a month - a 1.6% rise much lower than inflation. I'm in the south east.

London only increased by 4% last month and over a year Dec to Dec only by 0.03% although the percentage rises in London and the index amounts don't seem to tally in the data.

I don't see this discussed much here but it is an interesting index.

Err - crap maths - will edit when I can.... it is a 12 month increase of 0.4% in London. Only 2% in the South East. On current projections I think London will be0% by the middle of this year and the Southeast about 1%
