January 18 price is lower than the September 17 price, how did they get the +1.3% for the quarter?

Isn't the average of one quarter compared with the average of the next?

Don't get too excited, this index was -1.3% in Jan 2017....

It was +1.8% in the actual corresponding month of December 2016. so going by that January will be  -3.7%

First line from Guardian write up:

UK house prices fell unexpectedly in December...

i really do not like the Guardian, real new labour champagne socialists, at least the Daily mail doesn't even pretend to be what its not.

I guess each paper has an audience, and there is a whole generation on new Labour wunkers with their very own socialist buy to lets 'providing housing' out there.

never mind. At least papers are all pretty much going bust, i think the daily mail will do very well over the years, the quality of education goes down, and living standards degrade, perfect breeding ground for the further to the rights

Weird...intyerest rates go up a bit, prices come down....they could be onto something here.

The over levered BTLers might want to invest in some stain concealing underwear.

Certainly caught us by surprise over here.  Total disbelief.  Oh, the standard of journalism and the Guardian and all.  Surely just a bit of silliness.

Sorry yes you are right, always thought the quarter statistic was meaningless so never paid attention to it before, it just caught my eye that the absolute value was lower than the quarter before. Obviously this just reinforces my view having seen the mental gymnastics they have to through to get a positive value.
