Legal and General: 500

Most people in Mature Savings (the division which is being sold) have been told their roles can be TUPEd to ReAssure, so there probably won't be many redundancies.

Strange shops competing with supermarkets on price. Unsustainable.

The wetherspoons head honcho often campaigns against the high taxes faced by pubs but not supermarkets. He's got a point. I love going to a pub once in a while but unless you're near a JDW the prices are horrendous. High tents don't help either.

aye marquees in front of the pub often stop me from going in, unless your referring to trouser tenting stopping you leaving the house.

Writing been on wall for retail for ~ 5 years.

Retail is moving to large outlets/areas every ~80 miles.

Roughly, your choices are Bristol, Soton, Reading, <London>, Lakeside.

I dont think Reading will survive. Last time I went, the shopping was limited and most of the eastry places wont be here in 2 years time.

Bham, Manchester, Meadowhall, Leeds, maybe York, Newcastle.

You'll find limited range of shops outside of those areas.

Boss HofF says customers/consumers are spending their money differently.....on food and leisure, as well as on fuel, debts, rents and bills.......so is the market for expensive perfumes, makeup and handbags growing? Years ago wealthy people used to travel from third world countries and other places to bulk buy fashion garments and luxury goods, now they have no need to travel here to buy, all available and more on their own doorsteps. Apart from the fact that cost of storage of stuff/gadgets is at a premium, as is space, many used items available for very little for the moment..... It is the people who are losing their jobs that will have to adapt to new ways of doing things, not easy losing your job when have many monthly commitments/bills to cover, what other services/sales are there at this point in time that there is a demand for?.....

To be honest fewer people visit the big department stores because nothing they sell people actually need, they might want something new, but they don't need it, they might like to change the curtains or cushions, but they don't need to change them or need to buy them there......the fixed costs are far too high, rents and rates, so are passed onto the customer who has to make an effort to shop there, paying for transport and fuel to get there, sometimes parking to stay there......?
