Wales Stamp duty

Very interesting,

" It is the first Welsh-only tax in almost 800 years and will be introduced on April 1, 2018. ...People buying smaller houses worth less than £250,000 will benefit by paying up to £500 less in tax. "

Looks like buyers asking £260k - £280k are more likey to only achieve just under the £250k figure now.

I thought £400,000 would buy you a street in most of Wales, not just a house.

Come out west - hard to get a decent plot for that price - one went close to me for 800,000 and that isn't a joke! Nice couple from Devon relocating.

If you buy an expensive house on Wales, just think of all the other expensive taxes could think up!

Trying to reduce business taxes if anything - but tried to reduce airport taxes but got told not by Westminster.

Great idea. Nowt wrong with setting a ceiling price on house prices. The removal of stamp duty of 250,000 only increases prices as it reduces taxes payable on housing over 250k. Since it was removed prices have soared.

You'd be very surprised how expensive NW Wales and Anglesey is, considering the complete lack of local jobs.  All due to outsiders buying holiday homes/holiday lets.
