The Sun: Theresa May to be the first PM in decades to unveil a major programme to build council houses.

Not gonna happen. Unless they can find some way to funnel more money to their mates, that is - probably by buying (at full price) the s**t new builds no-one else will touch.

Sorry but she really is out of touch dithering this long before working out something like this may be a strategic option.

What about the help to buy stuff?  It stuck me as surely there must be better options than trying to inflate already inflated prices -  i.e. force more land to be available and used by imposing higher fees/ fines on land banking?

Definitely cons are scrambling and feels like tide has now turned with different perception and emphasis firmly on the renters and not the house price to the moon party msm headline vote winner of the past.

The Tories are crapping themselves now, as evidenced by the fact they are prepared to turn into "Corbyn Labour lite" to try and fool the yoof into voting for them.

Suggests to me they think there could be another election a little bit sooner than 2022...

Hmm, watch what they do don't listen to what they say.

Indeed

It's telling that the parties are starting to compete on house building instead of pensioner subsidising.

Been saying this for a while, its not long before the ignored young minority has suddenly become half the disenchanted voting public. Corbyn has this on a plate. All the policies of the last few years have done nothing but withhold wealth from the up and coming generations. Quite a disgusting mess. I hate Socialists, but Corbyn currently gets my vote because he's the first politician to wake up to it.

I wonder what tory party funders will be awarded the contract.

The torys must think we're all f**king stoopid.

I'm now so jaded about the whole thing that I don't even mind party mates lining their pockets as long as the supply side is boosted up to levels that affect the buy side.

I'll say it once more....what's the point of boosting the supply side when you have 300K+ immigrants a year and the bankers are magicking money out of thing air to lend to people at any price, on top of that, they'd rather trash the £ and see peolpe starve than raise IRs and take some of the losses.

+1

Its all about the banksters enriching themselves on the suffering of others. Look at history. NWO same as the old world order. Trashing currencies, empoverishing and starving people for their riches. Until the people awake that it

Hmm, a bit of a watershed I think, average price is 8 times average salary, it will take time but houses must become more affordable.

Whether she does it or not, the message is out there.

So no actual national council house building programme then, just throwing a few billion in the pot for councils to bid for?

As long as Billions are used to prop up high house prices ala HTB, nothing will ever change without a full revolt from the people.

They will throw as many billions as required to keep Tory land holders in control of the society. They call it aspiration.

If you challenge them, you'll be branded as left-wing lunatic.

In this forum its been more than 10 years people have been waiting for a crash.
