Almost half of Britons think the UK economy is in recession

I would argue that probably the vast majority of Brits have no idea what a recession is.

Yeah... I did wonder upon that! ;)

Interesting though... if nearly half the populace believe we are in recession it should prove self-fulfilling.

To be fair, I think most people think of recession as 'economy not doing great'.  Quite telling that at least half view things that way despite the official 'everything is awesome' narrative and soaring asset prices.

I don't think its recession is "economy not doing great" its more "they personally are not doing that great". For many people I expect they are having to watch the pennies rather more than they used to and that to most people screams recession...
