Another 250,000 people come to the UK

Always strikes me as ironic that it is seen as a liberal stance to deprive countries of their best talent just so the UK can prop up it's economy. If they weren't coming voluntarily how would it be viewed if we went round the world saying you must send us your best and brightest to the detriment of your own country ? 

Why do they come ? because they perceive that the opportunities for the progression of their gene pool are greater than where they came from.

We're well past the point where the majority of migrants are  the best and brightest. It's reached the point where the EU is a sink for over population and the unemployed in 3rd world countries. Chuck in some hegira and a generous EU welfare system (esp compared to where they came from) we are where we are.
