workingpoor
What happened to those blokes that used to walk around town centre high streets wearing "The End is Nigh" sandwich boards? I always thought that was cool.

More likely to be a harbinger of the apocalypse than my failed predictions of an HPC over the past 8 years... I am sure that picture is full of hidden symbolism only waiting to be unpicked I mean one nun is knitting, one is holding bag of green vegetables, one is drinking coffee, one seems to be looking at a computer tablet, Surely these are Sabian symbols or metaphors for the Seven Churches in the Book of Revelation https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seven_churches_of_Asia No doubt Dan Brown or David Icke will be along in a minute to tell me what it all means On edit - Rather prosaically I gather there were eight of them out that day but one was not on the platform when the photo was taken
Millaise
The one on the left in knitting, the next one is swigging a Costa, and the third one along is drawing on a fag.
Austin Allegro
The well known 'end is nigh' sandwich board man who used to walk around Oxford Circus died a few years ago I believe. I think you just don't get that many apocalyptic Christians about nowadays, part of the overall decline in British Christianity. Without wanting to get too 'Daily Mail', I suspect also their presence would not be welcomed by certain persons of a different religious persuasion. Strictly speaking Apocalypse means in Greek any uncovering or disclosure of hidden truth not Armageddon.
stormymonday_2011
Apparently, the nuns were from a Carmelite closed order that spends most of its time praying for the salvation of the world. A triumph of hope over experience if ever there was one.
