So it looks like the spooks are basically in on everything connected to the web, the minute the boomers are gone they will have pretty much data on everyone from adolescence to adulthood, and (adjusts tin foil hat) really living in shadow government dystopia.

Not my problem, mate. I'm a boomer.

pffft, that's nothing. Snoopers charter lets the UK government track all our web history.

CIA, pfft, amateurs.

Snoopers charter just legalised what was already happening, just trying to start a convo, my main issue is why they are trying to paint this as some Russian/Trump conspiracy

They know what sort of porn you all look at on the web and all your dirty secrets! Not me of course because I don't do that sort of thing.

They will have something to blackmail everyone with to keep them on side.

GCHQ's Tempora project.

They record everything. If you ever become a person of interest they will be able to recall everything you have ever done on the internet, every call you've ever made, everything you've ever bought on a card and everywhere you've ever been with your phone.

It's a Brave New World.

Specifically engineered to be that way, they have something on everybody should they need to use it. Probably know where 95% of folks are in the country almost continuously, know every single thing you  spend money on, where and when, use applepay and you are selling your soul to the devil. They can even activate the microphone on most mobile phones to eavesdrop whenever they want and can also use the cameras in most phones and smart devices to boot.

Publically networked cameras can also be be used to track individuals in real time in conjunction with mobile phone information.

Certain targetted individuals in the middle east were eliminated after they made the mistake of turning their phones on and this is the stuff we know about.

I suspect your joking, but its not just that though is it, its Vault 7 stuff that was even on the conspiracy side after the Snowden leaks.

You would have thought those people who do think along the lines of I have nothing to hide so whats the problem would actually be worried and not trying to slant it along some ******** Trump conspiracy.

Yep, you want a job - they know about that sex site you visit.

You want to run for political office - then that site for men who like to dress up in lady's knickers and sniff the whipped cream covered toes of women is going to be in your record forever... or until you no longer tow the line.

Yeah, the targets only turned their phones on iirc, when you see things like Alexa being the latest fad and Jeff Bozos having a nice pay packet from the CIA https://www.thenation.com/article/amazon-washington-post-and-600-million-cia-contract/ it does look dystopian

Well yeah, if they're that omnipresent and capable, how was everything able to be published?

Pretty sure Wikileaks and Snowden are most likely deliberate disinfo ops.

In what way?

The tech is there and is utilised already, that the spooks don't actively release 0 day exploits isn't disinfo,  to think they don't dragnet web traffic has been proven to be false.

Surely if that was the aim Snowden and Wikileaks would be releasing information about how there isn't any electronic surveillance going on at all guv..  honest.

I thought that was supposed to be on the "essential attributes" of the CV

Generation sex respects the rights of girls
Who want to take their clothes off
As long as we can all watch that’s okay
And generation sex elects the type of guys
You wouldn’t leave your kids with
And shouts “off with their heads” if they get laid

To be honest,  a lot of these agencies don't even try to be subtle any more.   Israel just announced a bill to ban anyone from travelling there if they have ever voiced public support for Israeli boycotts or generally been less than complimentary about them building on their neighbours land.

Simultaneously I notice there are suddenly a lot of stories appearing about Israeli boycotts on my Facebook feed.  I guess all you need is a bot to troll the comments sections and  jobs a good'un.

Aimed at keeping subversives, middling drug dealers, people smugglers and of course everyday people in line.

An exasperated high ranking KGB officer had to point out to a BBC interviewer, constantly querying to what extent they infiltrated Britain, that the primary operation of the state security apparatus is always dealing with its own everyday population.

Quite the opposite.  It would be misdirection though -- so you have to think what they're wanting us not to see...

Anyway, about the topic more generally.  I don't get the surprise -- surely everyone knows that the security service could get all this information about them?  I'm not sure I mind, particularly -- It isn't even a case of 'I've nothing to hide' (I've lots to hide), more that they're fairly professional and don't get caught up in stupid stuff.

The new snoopers' charter though -- that's different.  I don't understand how the Ambulance Service of Wales gets to be able to see my internet browsing history -- and I don't trust that they'd use the powers 'wisely'.

The thing is, people being off line is the most dangerous, and your comment doesn't point to disinfo.

Even something as basic as web advertising is proof of how much of a footprint you can leave on the web, if the spooks here and in the states are utilising it, you can guarantee the Chinese have had a massive head start and the russians are playing the same game

Quote

"You are being watched. The government has a secret system: a machine that spies on you every hour of every day. I know, because I built it. I designed the machine to detect acts of terror, but it sees everything. Violent crimes involving ordinary people; people like you. Crimes the government considered 'irrelevant'. They wouldn't act, so I decided I would. But I needed a partner, someone with the skills to intervene. Hunted by the authorities, we work in secret. You'll never find us, but victim or perpetrator, if your number's up... we'll find you".

I don't think its a surprise tbh, just bewildered around why its being slanted as some Trump/Russian conspiracy. I think it will be brushed under the carpet along with Snowden leaks under the guise of "I have nothing to hide" and not the revelation of the ability to potentially spy on everyday citizens etc.

The snoopers charter was essentially just ratifying what was already happening though

Two main things from this are that the CIA can control a car remotely and that Trump was probably right to say that the spooks are working against him as it's now been confirmed that the CIA has been falsifying timestamps and other meta data to pinpoint the blame on Russia.
