Ride Out's.

There seems to be a large increase in the "Ride Out" an event where (generally) a tribute is paid to someone who has passed, by motorcycle riders forming up and riding a set route from one destination to another along the highways.

I think that what's happening is that during the rides, one of the other old bikers is dying....it's a kinda perpetual engine event...

By 'passed', do you mean died?

Harley Davidson biker gang type bikers must have an average age of about 65 these days, so it's hardly surprising they're dropping like flies.

It might be for that biker sense of purpose and in place of the now nationally banned bike meets. Much harder for plod to curtail a funeral procession.

Any excuse for a party/gathering as they say.

Ah yes, i noticed a "Thursday night bike night" that was attracting large numbers in the city centre where i live was shut down and no longer takes place. It started off as a few enthusiasts looking at restored and rare bikes in display and ended up with large crowds riding scramblers and mopeds etc

Yes, as hardly anyone actually commutes to work on them, because frankly it's miserable in the cold and wet plus shopping's limited to a rucksack full unless you want to ruin its look with panniers, this basically makes them expensive garage clutter looking for an excuse/purpose to use them therefore charity rides, memorials etc. are ideal.
