Fake News is a media smokescreen for Tainted News

Recommended Posts

I have come to the conclusion that the media is using 'Fake News' hysteria as a smoke screen for what I call 'Tainted News'. i.e. the presentation of news in a manner deisgned to steer general public opinion on a subject from either an ideological, corporate or governmental perspective. Tim Cook of apple fame today jumped on the bandwaggon and labelled fake news as 'killing peoples minds' and I believe he has missed the point and sold out when he added that it “is a big problem in a lot of the world” and necessitates a crackdown by the authorities and technology firms. Surely this is what we already have anyway and it is a position that is being abused by the peddlers of tainted news like the BBC, SKY and all the other large media organisations.

Yep it's just another straw man 'racist' type ploy.

Here's Tommy Robinson from the 'far right' another far right person might be .... 'Hitler'. You don't want to listen to Hitler, do you. You don't want to debate with Hitler, do you?

Here's Nigel Farage he's a racist another racist might be .... 'Hitler'. You don't want to listen to Hitler, do you. You don't want to debate with Hitler, do you?

Here's a story about mass rapists in Germany, it's fake news. another proponent of fake news is Putin, Putin is just like Hitler. You don't want to listen to Hitler, do you. You don't want to debate with Hitler, do you?

It seems fake news is news that you don't need to debunk, because it's fake news. Yay. Hugs and safe spaces all round!

It's all appeared far too suddenly and is absolutely everywhere for it not to have some sort of plan behind it. Maybe.

I dont think they'll actually convince anyone who already uses alternative information sources, they're just trying to frighten their own captive audience to trust no one but them.

All about nudging us. Different take on the same old game from the MSM. It is them losing control but trying to wrestle it back, convincing fewer people.

It's in the words used and repetition. Note language used by Moore or Sopel when discribing Trump - negative, condescending, gleeful at set-backs.

If it were not for all this "news", I wouldn't know what to think, or what tat to buy next.

My best news comes from here. I like to hear about your boilers, car breakdowns, and divorces, and vitamins and losing weight! And of course bowel movements.

The media is your oppressor.

It is there to tell you are too male, too white, too fat, too sexist,  too racist, too stupid, too old, too gullible, drink too much, eat too much, dont exercise enough, don't pay enough taxes, don't care enough about global warming, global refugees,  global migrants, global poverty, are not interested enough in regime change in foreign countries half a world away that you have never visited and whose rulers have never done anything to you etc.

You need to worry about these things rather than the fact you have not got a decent job, can't afford a home, can't afford a pension, cant afford further education without getting into debt, have not got any financial security even though you work all the hours of the day, can't see a doctor, can't get a bed in hospital, can't find a dentist,  struggle to find a decent school for your kids, can't get a seat on the train during your morning commute etc.

Just let the minions of the Ministry of Truth  set the rules by which you should live your life and learn to love the system.

I suspect Steve Jobs would have seen this as an opportunity for Apple to gain more media share from traditional media. Cook is just worried that Trump is going to force Apple to build stuff in the US or face a punitive tax.

you're calling AT LEAST the past 20 years suddenly?

constant news-loops,property porn,"talent" shows,"reality"shows??...done endlessly,relentlessly, repetitively..just like old goebbels said to???

I would say that is quite damaging to peoples minds.

For 'fake' what they mean is not supplied through the authorised channels.

Alternative news sources might be true, might be a pick of lies, might be a load of poorly researched half truths or a might be a mixture of all of them. But then that is no different what the MSM news sources provide already. Essentially they are criticizing alternative news sources for being exactly like themselves.

Ch4 is getting very holier than thou over this, but I wonder whether a news story based on a false fact is that much different from a story where a fact is twisted via editorialising (which Ch4 and the rest of the British media excel in). Hasn't the British media been peddling false and distorted news for decades - Hillsborough, Iraq, Brexit, Birmingham Six...take your pick.

And meanwhile the establishment looks on, rubbing its hands and not quite believing its luck that this new 'fake news' meme is the perfect excuse for it to start regulating free speech and close down media it doesn't like.

As if on cue:

Apparently we need to 'educate' kids in school against the evils of fake news. Buy Apple - support SJW indoctrination it seems.

By Cook - "...“In some ways kids will be the easiest to educate. At least before a certain age, they are very much in listen and understand [mode], and they then push their parents to act. "

The left / globalists / corporatists definitely have an agenda that news can only be news if it comes from an 'official' source such as the BBC or Washington Post.  Quite scary really.  I see them as following this as a line of attack right now.

How different is this from. USSR news only being news if it came from TASS?

All those MSM outrage stories being pushed like "poor child refugees stuck in Calais hell" that turn out to be 30yr old blokes,

The poor "British woman" who just went to Iran to vist family" and got imprisioned as an alleged political activist plotting to overthrow the government,

Read any MSM "outrage" story and the real truth tends to be buried towards the end of the article, (aimed at readers with a low attention span who may just read the first paragraph)

I suppose it is not quite "fake news" but "missleading news" would be an appropriate term.

All media:

- select which stories to report

- select which 'facts' to include within that story

- select which interviewees to comment on these facts, and what questions to ask them

- editorialise every story

- present opinion and comment as 'news'

if you analyse a typical newspaper or news programme these days probably less than 20% is straightforward reporting of something that has happened.

Media mediate - they are a filter between you and what's happening. We give them more credibility than we should because we tend to select outlets that mirror our own prejudices.

'Fake news' is just one of many techniques in the media employed by media owners, government and the establishment to shape our opinions.

Probably the worst example of the media manipulating opinion and policy in the last 12 months with fake news. If there had been more children, we would have seen them; the only image of a definitive child was the Lilly Allen one. Plenty of blokes up to forty years old being brought in on the ''kinder transport''.

In the end the Government had to drop the scheme, but political correctness means they can't say why. Meanwhile anybody with commonsense has lost both trust in charities and the BBC.

Thanks, this helps, I have been able to see it for a while, but it is difficult to explain to others that they are being manipulated.

It is very difficult since they assume the BBC etc is there to inform them.
